Three practical rules from how we hand projects over. First, the infrastructure should be deployed in your accounts — your Vercel, your database provider, your domain — so the bill is in your name from the first month and you can read it. Second, prefer managed services (auth, email, payments) at v1: their monthly fee is small next to the engineering weeks they save, and they can be replaced later. - Buy the commodity layers. Auth, email, payments, file storage and monitoring are all better bought than built at v1. Their fees are in the run-cost table above; the weeks they save are worth more.
